As soon as I saw the Love Token bubble bar was going to be part of the valentines day range, I was so excited to get one! So as always, I made the trip to my local Lush store to take a peek at the Valentines day range when it dropped. My eyes were automaticaly drawn to this product purely because of the golden lustre.. I’m a magpie. I immediately picked one up to give it a big sniff and that’s when my heart sunk and stomach dropped. All I could smell was the clove bud oil which it my all time hated scent. I just can’t do clove whatsoever, my stomach churns and my mouth starts to water in a bad way. It shares it’s scent with the Gingerbread Man sparkle jar from the 2018 Christmas range. As I wasn’t going to be picking this up, I asked for a demo in store to see how it smells in the water and whilst its subtle, I can still smell the clove. Check out the demo below to see some slow motion bubble making action at Lush Newcastle.
Original price: £4.95 Vegan: yes Size: Availability: Valentines Day 2019 Scent family: Similar to Gingerbread Man sparkle jar My rating: 2/5 (purely because of the scent and my dislike for reusable bubble bars compared to regular bubble bars)
Baa Bar bubble bar has been a returning mothers day product for the last couple of years now. Initially it came out in 2017 with a lovely violet scent similar to the parma violet sweets. However when it came back in 2018 lushies were shocked to find the scent had changed to twilight which is their classic lavender and tonka fragrance seen in many other mainline products. I think I prefer it with the twilight scent as when using the 2017 version, I wasn’t keen on how it smelled in the water. Baa bar is definitely on the small side when it comes to comparing them with other bubble bars from Lush but the fact that they are super cute and packed full of colour really make up for it. When sliced open, a rich and deep purple core is revealed!
Six reusable bubble bar is possibly my favourite Valentine’s day product ever released by Lush based purely on the design. For Valentine’s Day 2019, they have really pushed the boat out with the suggestive product names and innuendous descriptions. This naughty bubble bar is scented with the beloved yog nog fragrance and because it’s a reusable bubbe bar, all you have to do is hold it by it’s tail or pop a finger in the hole under running water to create a tub full of bubbles. Both colours are the same scent, just in case there was any confusion. I found it didn’t really colour the water when I used it and the scent wasn’t as strong as other yog nog products. It reminds me more of a crunchie chocolate bar.. like honeycomb! It made plenty of fluffy bubbles however just like other reusable bubble bars, they’re not the most hydrating and tend to feel squeaky in the bath. If you know, you know!
Unicorn Horn bubble bar is an all time favourite of mine. Lavender mixed with ylang ylang and neroli creates such a calming combination which really works well in the bath tub. It’s understated yet strong in scent. This is not the same scent as Twilight, I see a lot of people being told it is, but it isn’t. I usually use a whole unicorn horn for a luxurious soak but you could easily get 2-3 uses out of this. It creates a ton of bubbles in the bath and it tends to go really well with most other bath bombs! Over the years the unicorn horn bubble bar has had several makeovers from having little star confetti decorations removed and the blue changing to purple. It’s definitely a staple in my home and I stock up every year so I don’t run out.
