Strawberry Whip Soap

Strawberry whip soap is a mouthwateringly delicious soap that made an appearance for Valentines Day 2019. The fruity design theme is carried through into yet another product for this range and I can’t express to you enough that this is such a perfect product to me.
There’s so many ingredients in this product that you can really take advantage of. The coconut oil is super hydrating, agar agar is included for softness; Fair Trade cocoa butter and a silken tofu centre create the ultimate moisturising lather. All of these combined really help with skin that is lacking moisture and needs a bit of TLC.
The scent is where it gets exciting. If you remember the past shower jelly going by the name of Strawberry Twin Tub, then you should recognise the scent of the Strawberry Whip soap. The juicy scent of fresh strawberries, gernium and jasmine create the super refreshing scent of spring. It’s similar to Yummy Mummy but goes by the name of Yummy Yummy Yummy. There are only slight differences in these scents – I find YYY to have a more floral note, whereas YM has a deeper and richer note similar to caramel.

Love Island Body Scrub

Love Island body scrub was one of the products from the 2019 Valentines Day range that really stood out to me as being unique and quirky. Lush have been taking a more modern approach on some of their items, like their Peachy and Aubergine bath bombs modelled after the popular emojis. They’re taking social media seriously these days and as well as these emojis being popular on social media, so was the tv series of the same name.
The sugar, sand and salt scrub really packs a punch in the exfoliation and scent department. It shares it’s scent with the class Fizzbanger bath bomb – which in turn is Love scented, just like the body spray and the original perfume. Whilst I’m not a huge fan of this scent, I can really appreciate it in this form as it seems stronger than other products. You could say its almost like a cinnamon apple scent but in this I can really pick up on the other ingredients.
Despite it’s size, this little body scrub which is probably designed for one use, can last quite a few uses. I recommend crushing the scrub into a spare black pot from Lush so you can ration how much you use in each shower.

Ingredients:
Granulated Sugar, Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar, Fine Sea Salt, Potato Starch, Sodium Coco Sulfate, Sand, Lemongrass Oil, Bergamot Oil, Jasmine Absolute, Rose Absolute, Ylang Ylang Absolute, Cocoa Powder, Aloe Vera Extract, Gardenia Extract, Titanium Dioxide, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, *Benzyl, Benzoate, *Citral, Coumarin, Oakmoss Extract, *Geraniol, *Limonene, *Linalool, Perfume.

Love Token Reusable Bubble Bar

As soon as I saw the Love Token bubble bar was going to be part of the valentines day range, I was so excited to get one! So as always, I made the trip to my local Lush store to take a peek at the Valentines day range when it dropped. My eyes were automaticaly drawn to this product purely because of the golden lustre.. I’m a magpie.
I immediately picked one up to give it a big sniff and that’s when my heart sunk and stomach dropped. All I could smell was the clove bud oil which it my all time hated scent. I just can’t do clove whatsoever, my stomach churns and my mouth starts to water in a bad way. It shares it’s scent with the Gingerbread Man sparkle jar from the 2018 Christmas range.
As I wasn’t going to be picking this up, I asked for a demo in store to see how it smells in the water and whilst its subtle, I can still smell the clove. Check out the demo below to see some slow motion bubble making action at Lush Newcastle.

Open Your Heart Bubble Bra

Yes you read that right, bubble bra. This bubbleroon type product is inspired by and named after the musical legend Madonna.
Perfect for at least two baths, this bubble bar will allow you to smell the decadent golden pear scent on more than one ocassion. This fragrance has become recently popular ever since the first appearance of the Golden Pear soap for Christmas 2017. We have seen several products with this scent now and this is one of them.
The two halves are sandwiched together by softening murumuru and fair trade cocoa butter which is extremely moisturising for the skin. When ran under hot water, the spicy cardomom and sensual sandalwood really come through and with the golden lustre, it make for an exceptionally luxurious bath time.

Six Reusable Bubble Bar

Six reusable bubble bar is possibly my favourite Valentine’s day product ever released by Lush based purely on the design. For Valentine’s Day 2019, they have really pushed the boat out with the suggestive product names and innuendous descriptions.
This naughty bubble bar is scented with the beloved yog nog fragrance and because it’s a reusable bubbe bar, all you have to do is hold it by it’s tail or pop a finger in the hole under running water to create a tub full of bubbles.
Both colours are the same scent, just in case there was any confusion. I found it didn’t really colour the water when I used it and the scent wasn’t as strong as other yog nog products. It reminds me more of a crunchie chocolate bar.. like honeycomb! It made plenty of fluffy bubbles however just like other reusable bubble bars, they’re not the most hydrating and tend to feel squeaky in the bath. If you know, you know!

Eve’s Cherry Lip Scrub

Eve’s Cherry lip scrub is the first lip scrub I have used from Lush that I am ok to get in my mouth. I know that probably sounds weird, but I usually use a lip scrub and wash it off instead of just licking my lips after. When I first opened the jar I got an overwhelming whiff of the popular fizzy pop Vimto! The combination of davana, buchu and almond essential oils creates the fruity flavour and lime juice leaves a zesty tang after.
It isn’t too sweet and the colour is so strong I think it tinted my lips afterwards!
The texture is the same as other lip scrubs from Lush. It’s the perfect balance of fine and coarse which really helps to exfoliate the lips without leaving them sore. The jojoba and shea butter really leaves the lips feeling super soft and nourished afterwards.

Love Boat Bath Bomb

Love Boat Bath Bomb is a fun slow fizzer which releases a torrent of bright colours when hitting the waters surface. If you look on the base of the bath bomb, there are little red biodegradable love hearts which dissolve in the water. It has a super sweet fragrance made up of sicilian lemon and sweet orange oils – it reminds me of candy, more specifically love hearts. To me this is the same scent as the ‘Mum’ bath bomb from 2017.

Since being released again in 2019, the inventor Gary Shears has made it known that he has made a few tweaks to his creation. The fragrance is stronger than before and the design is a bit more robust and defined from the bath bomb moulding process.

Aubergine Bath Bomb

Aubergine bath bomb is yet another cheeky emoji inspired bath bomb for the 2019 Valentine’s Day range! The scent of this phallic bath bomb may seem familiar to you.. it is indeed 29 high street scented which is reminiscent of what a Lush store smells like as you walk down the street towards those open doors. When visiting the Newcastle store, I was advised to stick the tip in first for its maximum performance in the water. This makes sure that the blue core spurts out to create a stunning show of bath art, reminding many lushies of the beloved Northern Lights bath bomb. Whilst the scent is lovely, I find it is weaker than others in the water and could probably do with upping the concentration next year if it was to make a return.

Peachy Bath Bomb

Peachy bath bomb is a new addition to the 2019 Valentines Day range at Lush. At first sniff it smells almost identical to the kiss me quick washcard from the 2018 Valentines Day range. It’s similar to Never Mind the Ballistics bath bomb but with a more ‘natural’ peach scent – less synthetic, not as sweet and with more depth. The scent is very strong in the water and lasts on the skin! Not only am I impressed with the scent, but can we talk about the design?! Inspired by the popular emoji, commonly used to portray a widely loved part of the body, the quirky take on a peach works wonderfully well as a bath bomb and is sprayed in a coating of lustrous pink with a colourful core.
